- The steel region next door: Between the Rhine and the Ruhr sits Europe’s densest steel and metal-processing cluster – the delegated act for iron & steel is expected as early as 2026 and radiates out to the region’s traders and processors.

The textile DPP only arrives ~2028 – why start now?
Because the goods hanging on your rails in 2028 are ordered in 2027 and developed in 2026/2027. Fibre data, production sites and recycled content have to come from a multi-tier supply chain – and in our experience that takes longer than the 18-month transition period. Starting when the delegated act is published means starting too late.
We trade in steel products – does the textile discussion not concern us at all?
A different delegated act is relevant for you: iron & steel is expected as the first ESPR product group as early as 2026. Traders and processors will then have to pass on or verify their upstream suppliers’ passports – the systems question is the same as in textiles, just earlier.
