01 — Stuttgart

Why the product passport hits Stuttgart especially hard.

The Stuttgart region is Germany’s number-one automotive and supplier region – putting it at the centre of several DPP delegated acts at once. Multi-front exposure is not a buzzword here, it is daily reality:

  • Battery passport: For traction and industrial batteries above 2 kWh, the battery passport applies for certain from 18 Feb 2027 – with carbon footprint, raw-material origin and recycled content. Anyone in the e-mobility supply chain faces the hardest deadline in the entire ESPR world.
  • Steel & aluminium: The delegated acts for iron & steel (expected 2026) and aluminium (expected 2027) directly hit body, casting and forming suppliers along the Neckar.
  • Tyres: The tyres delegated act is also expected for 2027 – relevant for development, original equipment and the replacement business.
  • Machinery: Swabian machinery and plant builders face a double challenge: as installers of passport-obligated batteries and components – and as data suppliers when OEM customers request material data for their own passports.

03 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions from Stuttgart.

Do you come to our plant in the Stuttgart region for workshops?

Yes. We are happy to run kick-offs, data audits and workshops with engineering, quality and IT directly at your premises – in Stuttgart, Esslingen, Böblingen or the surrounding area. Implementation afterwards runs remote.

We are a tier-2 supplier – does the battery passport even apply to us?

The registration obligation lies with the party placing the battery on the market. But: without your material, origin and carbon data, your customer cannot fill their passport – and will demand it contractually. In practice, the obligation travels down the supply chain, usually with tight deadlines.

Steel, aluminium, tyres, battery – do we have to run four projects in parallel?

No, that would be the most expensive route. The delegated acts overlap heavily on material data, carbon values and identifiers. One shared data model and one central data process serve all four – and that is exactly how we design the architecture.

How urgent is it really?

The battery passport on 18 Feb 2027 is fixed. Steel is expected in 2026, tyres and aluminium in 2027 – each with roughly 18 months of transition. Experience shows: sourcing supply-chain data takes longer than any transition period. Those who start in 2026 work to a plan instead of in crisis mode.
